Jo And The Rope

Meet the Maker - Joanna Grievson

Joanna Grievson.jpg

What do you do?

I am a macramé artist based in County Durham. I make various home decor pieces out of cotton cord. These include decorative wall hangings, plant hangers and small accessories such as coasters and keyrings.

How did you get started?

I’ve always been quite creative and came across the art of macramé a few years ago. I bought my first piece during a trip to Australia in 2018 and my partner bought me a book so I could have a go myself. The first piece that I made wasn’t my best but I just loved the process so much. It wasn’t until 2020 when on maternity leave that I had the opportunity to start ‘Jo and The Rope’.

Is this your full time job?

No, unfortunately not. I'm an accountant, so ‘ Jo and The Rope’ is where I let my creative side out after a day of numbers.

Where do you create?

I create at home in my free time, on evenings and weekends. My house is slowly becoming a macramé gallery!

Tea or coffee?

Tea

Where is your favourite local place?
