What do you do?

We create hand drawn colourful resources for children in the form of story stones and pairs/matching games. The stones promote tactile learning, expand imagination and exercise creativity and matchings skills amongst many other things. They are a great open ended resource for children to use to play while learning. We have many different themed sets but also create bespoke stones upon request. As well as our children’s range of stones we create personalised Pebble Art pictures.

How did you get started?

We are a mother and daughter team and during the strange year that was 2020 one of us retired and one of us was furloughed, we were inspired by walks on our favourite beach to start creating pebble art as gifts for friends and family. With a lot of time on our hands we began working with our niece/cousin, a primary school teacher, who wanted to create resources for her classroom using natural materials. We started creating various story stones to help her early years learning and her 2 small boys. They were a big hit and we began posting our work on Instagram and soon realised there was an opportunity for a little business and thought we’d give it a go. The business has gone from strength to strength and we’re loving it.

Is this your full time job?

No, it started as a hobby but as we are loving it so much we hope it continues to grow and who knows where it might lead, but we’re very excited to find out.

Where do you create?

We create in the spare bedroom which once belonged to Bethany in our family home in Houghton le Spring, the room is now quite the work room.

Tea or coffee?

Mam is a coffee person, plenty of sugar and I’m all about the tea with plenty of milk.

Where is your favourite local place?

Our favourite place is Blast Beach Seaham, our walks there inspired our Pebble Art, its where it all began and also home to our favourite coffee shops.

We don’t have any products to show here right now.
